From post-it to product
in 12 weeks.
What happens when a 130-year-old legacy company adopts a startup mindset?
As part of an internal innovation sprint with Sensis (now Thryv) and IDEO, I helped turn the idea for Skip, a mobile ordering and payments app, from a sticky note into a launched product in just 12 weeks.
What began as a basic text message prototype, grew into one of Australia’s first mobile commerce success stories.
Curious about Skip?
This project is featured in IDEO’s case study archive. I’d love to walk you through the inside story.
Role
Design, Research and UX Lead
Led the end-to-end design process, from opportunity discovery to launch.
Collaborated with IDEO and the company’’ internal innovation team to prototype, validate, and deliver the first version of Skip.
Problem
Sensis was in decline, disrupted by the shift from print directories to digital.
The business faced falling revenue, long product cycles, and low digital engagement.
Design challenge
Reimagine local search and transactions in a way that was fast, useful, and scalable.
Outcomes
Scaled to over $30M ARR by 2024
Achieved nationwide rollout and adoption
Spun out of Sensis as an independent company
Sustained 91% repeat usage
Generated $676 in revenue from early prototype tests
